FAQs

Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions. Please feel free to contact me for more information.

What happens in our first session?

Intake sessions last 55 minutes and are a chance for me to gather information from you. I want to learn what brings you to counseling now, as well as what your hopes and dreams are for yourself and your future.

My goal is for you to leave feeling understood with a sense of hope and direction.

How often do we meet?

After the intake assessment, sessions typically last 45-55 minutes. I prefer to meet weekly as we get to know each other, but the length and frequency of our sessions will be tailored to your needs.

How long does therapy last?

That depends on you.

You may be seeking support through a difficult time or want to focus on a specific concern. This may mean you need short-term therapy to help you get back on track.

You may be confronting long-standing issues or past traumatic experiences that are interfering with your life. Or you may be facing ongoing stressors or changes in your career, relationship, health, or family. These issues often require a longer period of support.

What is online video therapy?

I use a HIPAA compliant version of Google Meets to allow us to work together no matter where in New York State you are. I will send you a link, and all you need to do is click on it for us to be able to see each other and talk privately over the internet.

How much do you charge?

I charge $175.00 for our intake assessment and $150 per session after our first meeting.

Cost should not be a barrier to seeking help. Please contact me to discuss a sliding scale fee if you are facing economic challenges.

Do you accept insurance?

I accept the following insurances:

  • Aetna
  • Meritain
  • Oscar
  • Oxford
  • UMR
  • United Healthcare

If you will be using one of these insurance providers I will submit the claims directly, so all you will be responsible for is your co-payment.

I am an out-of-network provider with regards to all other insurance carriers. I will provide you with billing codes and itemized receipts so you can receive out-of-network reimbursement.

Important questions for you to ask your insurance company include:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? Some insurance companies reimburse up to 80% of your out-of-network costs. This amount may be less than your co-pay with an in-network provider.
  • Do I have a deductible, and has it been met? If your deductible has not been met, you will need to pay for our sessions until your coverage kicks in.
